it's nice to once again see racing at its best..
and one of the best attractions are the riavalries
that are formed..
before, when i started to watch Michael Schumacher
and see him win 6 straight titles through the years,
he had a rival who goes by the name of Mika Hakkinen,
he is a Finn and is a driver for mclaren-mercedes. these
two had great races and they always need to race the final
gran prix to decide who the real winner was. but a few
years after, hakkinen decided to retire and it was the
start for the regression for mclaren-mercedes. however,
a few years after, another team, led by juan pablo montoya
(a columbian) with ralph schumacher, started to go
head to head with ferrari. they were bmw. during this time,
michael schumacher's co-driver eddie irvine decided to call
it quits and went to another team due to him being unnoticed.
irvine's new team had high expectations but in the end, were
taken back to the scrapyard.. it was the manufacturer's of jaguar-cosworth.
montoya was a great driver but ferrari's dominace was still going on its peak.
then, just recently, two new drivers, kimi raikkonen and fernando alonso, started to make waves to a new generation of racers. micahel shumacher's last championship win was almost beaten by raikkonen just by a few points and it
was the start of the regression of ferrari. raikkonen was then named the heir to michael schumacher and was said to bring back glory to mclared-mercedes.
however, the spaniard, alonso who was racing for the underrated renault had a different thoughts about the future.
this year, with montoya a co-driver for raikkonen for mclaren. their team is once again back in its glory days while ferrari is now back on the drawing board in preparation for next year. reanault's alonso is the leader in the driver's championship and renault leads in the constructors championship.
mclaren-mercedes boasts a powerful engine with unmatched straight line speeds. while renault, the slower car, is very stable and better in handling. the rivalry of renault and mclaren are similar to the ferrari-mclaren rivalry with hakkinen and schumacher.
hakkinen had the qucker car and schumacher had the better car in terms of handling.
raikkonen, in my view is a heir for hakkinen and alonso for schumacher, it's only my opinion.
and after several years of schumacher dominating race after race.. it's nice to once again see rivalries and races that are led just be the seconds.
although i feel bad that michael schumacher is not winning, he already earned the right to be called one of the best.. and alonso and raikkonen are now following hakkinen, montoya and schumacher's footsteps to be called one of the best formula 1 drivers in the world.
